Whitt Sawmill Fire Is "Suspicious In Nature"

Sonora, CA -- Sonora, CA -- Sonora Fire Chief Mike Barrows says last night's fire at the Whitt Sawmill is “suspicious in nature.”

That is the end result of an investigation conducted by Dennis Townsend of the C.D.F. The nearly 3,000 square foot building has not been used in years, and Barrows says there are no utilities in the area that would have likely caused the fire.

The blaze caused an estimated $300,000 in damages. No further investigation is planned at this time.
