Forgery Scheme Revealed In Angels Camp

Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 09:00 AM

Angels Camp, CA -- While responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle, Angels Camp Police found a forgery operation.

Officers responded to the call in the 600 block of north Main Street Sunday morning.

The owner of the vehicle, 51-year old Jon Guess of Sacramento, had an outstanding warrant from Calaveras County Courts. Further investigation revealed the suspected forgery operation and a search warrant was issued.

During the search, forged Nevada driver licenses were found along with forged checks from numerous banks in other states. Forgery equipment was also recovered.

Along with Guess, 40-year old Shannon Williams of Long Beach was also arrested.

The Angels Camp Police Department has been in touch with several law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. in an attempt to identify any potential victims.
