Sonora, CA -- 71 year old Grant Kern of Soulsbyville died this afternoon following a single vehicle accident.
According to C.H.P. Officer Scott Clamp, Kern, driving in a westbound direction, had exited Hwy 108 and was headed southbound on Hess Ave. to pick up his wife at the Sonora Oaks Best Western Hotel. For an unknown reason his pickup truck veered off the roadway and up an embankment knocking down several fence posts. The truck then crossed over Hess Ave. and proceeded down into the hotel parking lot where it came in contact with a parked vehicle.
As paramedics arrived, Kern lost consciousness. He was immediately transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center. Shortly thereafter he was pronounced dead.
