Jamestown, CA -- Sierra Number 3, the "Movie Star Train" at Railtown 1897 is entering the final weekend of it's highly publicized fund-raising drive.
Earlier in the week, the California State Railroad Museum Foundation reported that it is $15,000 short of the $300,000 needed for a matching state grant. On Friday afternoon, Associate Director Kathy Daigle said, "We're still busy counting, but we are getting close."
The Irving J. Symons Foundation has also put up a $50,000 matching grant. Funds can be donated through the California State Railroad Museum Foundation or the Sonora Area Foundation.
Daigle says money will be accepted through the weekend. The $600,000 project could begin as early as next month, with the train back on the tracks in Spring of 2009.
