Memorial Holiday Classic Tips Off At Columbia

Columbia, Ca -- Columbia College is hosting a unique basketball tournament.

Eight junior college and eight high school teams are playing over the next three days in the Memorial Holiday Classic.

Claim Jumpers' Athletic Director and Head Coach Nate Rien says the idea came up about a year ago. Rien says “We really enjoy watching high school games and there's so many high school games going on during the holidays that you feel like you miss out on something if you have a home tournament.”

On the high school level, Summerville will meet Sierra of Manteca at four o'clock this afternoon. On the junior college level, Columbia will face Canada College of Redwood City at nine o'clock this evening.
