Fremont Family Injured In Saturday Automobile Accident

San Andreas, CA -- Three membes of a Fremont, CA family suffered major injuries in a Saturday morning automobile accident.

45 year old Jyotindra Gautam was driving the family's 1996 Honda Odyssey eastbound on Hwy 4 east of Big Trees Village Drive at 8:30 at a speed determined to be unsafe by the Highway Patrol given the icy conditions.

Gautam attempted to negotiate a sweeping right curve, but due to ice the vehicle began to slide across the highway. The Honda then impacted a large tree and proceeded to slide down a 10 foot embankment.

The driver suffered only minor injuries while his 43 year old wife and two children, ages 14 and 10 respectively, suffered major injuries. The woman was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital while the two children were taken to U.C. Davis Medical Center.
