San Andreas, CA -- A Calaveras Unified School District bus driver has pled guilty after a video exposed her faulty workers' compensation claims.
The Calaveras County District Attorney's Office says 48-year old Renee Dee Miller of Valley Springs claimed she fell and injured her back at an elementary school in 2003. The office says Miller's fraud was exposed when investigators caught her on tape bending down to pick up items, carrying large bags of aluminum cans at a recycling center and climbing on her hands and knees to vacuum the inside of an SUV.
Miller pled guilty to two felony counts of making false statements in support of a workers' compensation claim.
She was sentenced to 90 days in jail, placed on four years of probation and ordered to pay $27,000 in restitution.
The state Department of Insurance says 10 to 30 percent of workers' compensation claims are fraudulent.
