Sonora, CA -- Blunt force trauma has been listed as the cause of death for Joseph F. Burton.
That is according to Lt. Dan Bressler of the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department. The 47 year old Twain Harte resident died Friday afternoon in an ATV accident 10 miles south of Long Barn on 3N26. For some unknown reason, according to the C.H.P. report, Burton's ATV drifted off the right side of the road and overturned. He was ejected from the vehicle landing face down just west of the roadway.
Burton was with his brother-in-law and nephew when the accident occured at two o'clock. His relatives attempted C.P.R. but to no avail.
Burton was the owner of Mother Lode Appliance on Tuolumne Road and had been a member of the Sheriff Department's all volunteer Search and Rescue Team for the past couple of years.
