Busy Time For Students Applying To California Universities

Sonora, CA -- It's a busy time of year for students planning to head off to one of California's state funded Universities next fall.

Sonora High School Counselor Charlene Dambacher says CSU applications must be submitted between October 1st and November 30th...while UC applications can only be submitted during November. Dambacher says the application process can take several hours, depending upon whether a writing sample is required.

Students usually hear back from the school within a month or two. Students then have until May 1st to make a decision about whether to accept.

Dambacher notes that the entire process really begins when students start high school. All throughout, they work to keep up good grades and get involved in activities. She notes that around 20 percent of Sonora High School students enroll in a 4 year school straight out of High School.
