Sonora -- While much of the state's attention remains on the Esperanza fire in Southern California, fire crews are wrapping up the prescribed Wright Creek burn in the Sierra Nevada.
Stanislaus National Forest Spokesperson Pat Kaunert says nearly 400 acres are complete. He says residents may still notice smoke on Saturday, but it should be dissipated by Sunday and Monday. Kaunert notes that by wrapping up the burn, they are able to make more resources available to the fire crews in Southern California.
The Wright Creek burn was designed to reduce the fire hazard in the area, and provide good wildlife habitat.
