San Andreas, CA -- A suspected bank robber is behind bars in Calaveras County after a high-speed Thursday afternoon chase.
At approximately four o'clock, the sheriff's department received a report of a robbery at the Valley Springs Umpqua Bank. Undercover deputies spotted a white Dodge Magnum and initiated a vehicle pursuit that reached speeds of 95-plus mph on Hwy. 49. The vehicle was chased into Amador County where members of that county's sheriff's department, Jackson Police and C.H.P. officers were waiting with a spike strip.
The subject, 38 year old Joe Luis Resendez of Oakdale, was arrested and is being held in connection with a number of northern California bank robberies.
