Sonora Public Works Committee To Discuss Prop 42 Funds

Sonora, CA-- The Sonora Public Works Committee will be discussing the allocation of Proposition 42 at its meeting Thursday morning.

Public Works Director Peter Rei tells KVML News that Proposition 42 deals with traffic control congestion relief funding for city streets and roads.

Rei says it was about five years ago that Proposition 42 was on the ballot to allow the sales tax of gasoline to go toward transportation projects, rather than going to the state's general fund.

Over the past few years, due to financial hardship, the state withdrew money from the Proposition 42 account.

Now that the money has been repaid, the Public Works Committee will decide how it will benefit the community, when it comes to roads. The meeting will take place at 9am in the conference room at City Hall.
