Wallace, CA -- The Society for the Preservation of West Calaveras History is honoring the founder of the town of Wallace.
The society says 125 years after the town's founding, it will be the first time that residents have honored John Wallace. In 1882 Wallace surveyed the area's railroad line. His son surveyed the town itself.
A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., September 16 at the Wallace family plot at the Stockton Rural Cemetery.
Expected guests include direct descendants of John Wallace.
For more information contact the society at (209) 772-0336.
