Lost Motorcyclist Found

Monday, July 31, 2006 - 10:35 AM

Tamarack, CA -- Edward Hannan of Burlingame is now safe and sound after becoming lost in the woods while dirt biking Saturday.

The 26-year-old Hannan was riding with his friend Matthew Pionelli of Pacifica when the two split up and Hannan never returned to the truck.

Search and rescue teams were called in and found Hannan at 5:30 a.m. the next morning. He was uninjured and reunited with his friend.

Hannan was found using a recently purchased Sheriff's Department off highway vehicle equipped for search and rescue use.

The Sheriff wants to remind outdoor enthusiasts to avoid potentially life-threatening situations by carrying a map, bringing supplies and always staying with a partner in remote areas.
