Rancho Calaveras, CA -- Due to an emergency water situation in Rancho Calaveras, special rules have been passed to regulate the amount of outdoor water use.
A power surge last weekend knocked out the water pump to residents in the subdivision. The district has since switched the pump to a backup generator. But water is still not coming into the system fast enough to meet demand.
As a result, the Calaveras County Water District board has declared a water emergency for its Jenny Lind water service area.
Outdoor watering is prohibited from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and on Sundays. The schedule for outdoor watering is for odd addresses from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and for even addresses from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
For more information, contact the district at (209) 754-3543.
