Jamestown, CA -- Tuolumne County has suffered its first heat-related fatality.
The Sheriff's Department reports that 83 year old Lillian Galusha of Jamestown was found dead Thursday morning. The home was extremely hot with doors and windows closed. A skylight was open allowing heat to pour into the residence. She was initially discovered by a family member who told deputies that Galusha was reluctant to run her swamp cooler because of the cost of electricity. Deputies were also told that she failed to drink a sufficient amount of water on a regular basis.
Hyperthermia is being listed as the cause of death.
