C.H.P. Readies For Fourth Of July Weekend

San Andreas, CA -- The Highway Patrol is preparing itself for the weekend, but it won't be for a vacation.

Calaveras based Officer Georgia Hiele says the four day weekend will be another Maximum Enforcement Period. That means all officers and sergeants will be on call from 6PM Friday until midnight Tuesday.

The C.H.P. will be on the lookout for speeders, those who are driving under the influence and motorists who fail to buckle up.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Calaveras C.H.P. officers cited 150 speeders on Monday alone and 40 motorists for not wearing their seatbelts.
