Local Bank Branches Provide Support For Habitat Home

Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 03:25 PM

Sonora, CA – Now that a family has been chosen to purchase the 2006 Habitat for Humanity home in Tuolumne County, donations are rolling in.

Organizers say they just received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

The check was presented to Habitat by several branch representatives, and will provide funding for Tuolumne County's fifth Habitat home.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation supports non-profit organizations that address issues at the local level.

Affordable housing is a critical issue, particularly in California, and they say they are proud to support Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County.

Habitat builds decent, affordable housing with volunteer labor and donations. Working low-income families purchase the homes through no-interest mortgages.

For more information about Habitat for Humanity contact the local Habitat office at 536-0970.
