Angels Museum Gets More Room

Thursday, April 06, 2006 - 10:20 AM

Angels Camp, CA -- A 9,000 square foot addition to the Angels Camp Museum will allow for the display of artifacts that have previously been in storage.

The City Council awarded a $210,000 bid for construction to High Country Builders of Mountain Ranch Tuesday.

The museum is located on Main Street and is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Museum Manager Emily Stemler says the new building will house wagons and farm, logging and blacksmith equipment.

Currently the items are being stored on site at the Carriage House, which is consequently closed. The Carriage House features 31 carriages and smaller wagons, among other displays. Once the new building is erected, the Carriage House will open back up.

Stemler says the new space is badly needed. She says our heritage should be taken care of and displayed properly.
