Sacramento, CA -- The public will have another month to comment on a list of forestlands that would be available for sale in a proposal to provide funding to extend the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.
The Forest Service says there is a great deal of interest in the proposal and they want to ensure that the public has ample opportunity to provide its input. Many parcels are considered isolated or inefficient to manage due to their location or other characteristics. The extension gives interested individuals and groups the opportunity to provide comments until May 1st.
Comments may be made by contacting the USDA Forest Service. A special presentation by Bill Wade of the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees will be made Thursday April 6th regarding the campaign for common ground.
Wade is encouraging Mother Lode residents to attend the presentation in Stockton to learn how to protect the National Parks. The event will be held at the Stockton Howard Johnson Conference Room.
