Foothill Fire District Directors Facing Recall

Valley Springs, CA -- Foothill Fire District directors are facing a recall after making some difficult personnel decisions earlier this month.

In a closed session, the board voted unanimously to demote Chief Jeff Palm then voted 4-1 to fire Assistant Chief Drew Utterbach.

Board chairman Gary West says friends of the two men are now retaliating by asking for the recall of four board members. A notice of intent was delivered last week.

Formal recall papers have not been filed with the county.

West says the board acted in the best interest of the district. He added they were hard decisions.

Palm and Utterbach were not available for comment.
