Job Fair Seeks Locals

San Andreas, CA -- A special job fair was held Friday in San Andreas for the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.

The department has a handful of openings for deputies, corrections and dispatch.

Sheriff Dennis Downum said the goal was to recruit local people. He said if someone has local ties, they are more likely to stay around for a while. This saves training money, Downum explained.

Several applications were turned in but it will be a few months before Downum will know if the fair was a success.
