Schwarzenegger, In Washington With Governors, Defends Bond PlanMonday, February 27, 2006 - 09:45 AM
Washingotn, CA -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger used an appearance on NBC's "Meet The Press" to promote his plan to spend $222 billion on a massive public works building program in California.
Schwarzenegger said his critics are "confused about the difference between spending and investing." The plan would require $68 billion in new borrowing. Some of the people most critical of the plan are conservative members of Schwarzenegger's own Republican Party.
Two days after declaring a state of emergency for Sacramento's river and delta levees, Schwarzenegger reiterated the urgency of the need. He is expected to raise the issue when he and other governors meet with President Bush today.
