Sonora, CA-- Sonora Regional Medical center would like to remind women in the Mother Lode that heart disease is the single greatest health threat to women.
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke kill twice as many women as all types of cancer combined. Officials say to best way to avoid heart disease is to not smoke and to get regular heart check-ups, especially those who have high blood pressure or cholesterol, are diabetic or have weight problems.
Many with heart disease are turning to cardiac catheterizations. The procedure is considered one of the most reliable techniques in curing the disease. Over 750,000 cardiac catheterizations are done each year in the U.S.
