Sacramento, CA -- The Senate would make California hemp farmers very happy by passing assembly bill 1147.
After passing California's assembly, the bill will clarify that the cultivation of industrial hemp is legal on the condition that it only contain a certain amount of the drug THC. According to the Hemp Industries Association, there are more than 50 businesses that make products using hemp in California. Having this new bill passed, these businesses would no longer have to import millions of dollars of industrial hemp from other countries.
If the bill passes the Senate and is signed by the Governor, California will be the seventh state to allow hemp production.
