Sacramento, CA -- Getting a “lemon” at a used car dealership is no longer the only concern.
State Officials Report that thousands of cars and trucks damaged by floodwaters from last year's hurricanes are being discovered on lots all over California. State Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi says the problems with the vehicles are hidden in the electronics that have been damaged with water.
The Northern California AAA reports that water damage can also cause metal corrosion that can slow down or even disable modern safety features such as anti-lock breaks and airbags.
Garamendi cautions customers to be wary of vehicles priced far below Kelly Blue Book value.
