Sonora, CA -- Despite the amount of rain expected to hit the Mother Lode this week, the Tuolumne Utilities District says there is no risk of flooding at the local reservoirs.
District Engineer Tom Scesa says there are several precautions taken before any wet weather hits the Mother Lode. Scesa says the one that is most visible to residents is the Phoenix Reservoir, which he says has been lowered to a winter level. Some of the privately owned reservoirs may be at risk because Scesa says they are not subject to Sate safety regulations.
Although the Phoenix Reservoir will stand up to the rain, Scesa expects the bridge on Phoenix Lake Road to flood over, along with other small creeks like Sullivan Creek.
