Sacramento, CA -- Forecasters are warning Mother Lode residents of the potential of torrential rain in low lying areas and heavy snow in the upper elevations.
The National Weather Service says a series of storms is lined up across the Pacific moving toward Northern California. A storm currently moving into the area is expected to bring light rain throughout today and increase in intensity tonight and tomorrow.
Snow levels are expected to drop between 5000 and 6000 feet by tomorrow afternoon.
Officials says melting snow and saturated soil may result in flooding near lakes and streams and rockslides near steep terrain.
