Angels Camp, CA -- To raise awareness about HIV and AIDS, the Calaveras County Public Health Department and Sierra HOPE are teaming up for a candle light vigil on World AIDS Day, December 1.
Sami Rhodes, an education and outreach coordinator with Sierra HOPE, said the theme is to “Stop AIDS, Keep The Promise.” She said the community needs to remember that in the 1980s it made a commitment to provide services and should keep that promise.
The candlelight walk will begin at 6 p.m. at the Visitors Center in Angels Camp.
Following the walk, the names those who have died from AIDS will be read. Rhodes said so far 50 names are on that list.
