Yosemite National Park -- A National Park Service Officer is dead after collapsing in Yosemite National Park.
Special Agent Daniel Madrid reportedly collapsed on the Mist Trail Saturday while hiking to investigate a visitor fatality. Madrid was stationed in Missouri but was called in to work in Yosemite while local rangers are away helping with hurricane relief efforts in the Gulf Coast region.
Officials say Madrid is the first special agent to die in the line of duty. He leaves behind a wife and two children. He was 51.
