Sacramento, CA -- Officials with the American Automotive Association of Northern California say residents are determined to get out for final summer trips over the Labor Day weekend, despite record gas prices.
A recent survey indicates that almost 5 million Californians are expected to take to the highway this weekend. AAA says travel will be lighter than the last several holidays, but will be up slightly. Analysts say overall travel is up by just under 1% from last year with more than 3.8 million going by car. That figure shows an almost 2% increase from last year.
AAA recommends that drivers use their most fuel efficient car for the trip, keep the tires properly inflated and have a technician inspect the vehicle they go.
