Governor Tests Campaign Message

Thursday, July 28, 2005 - 04:25 PM

Sacramento, CA -- Although the special election is still months away, Governor Schwarzenegger is spending the day in campaign mode at events in Northern California, trumpeting his accomplishments and raising money.

Schwarzenegger joined elected officials from the Redding area to tout the state budget, which included paying off a loan owed to cities and counties without raising taxes.

The November 8th special election includes three measures that Schwarzenegger sponsored, an initiative to cap state spending, a proposal to change teacher tenure rules and a measure to redraw legislative and congressional districts.

A judge tossed the redistricting measure from the ballot last week because organizers of the petition drive used two differen t versions while collecting signatures.

Supporters are appealing the ruling. Even if that appeal fails, Schwarzenegger says the election should go forward because he believes the budget cap is critical.
