CDF Reports Two Area Fires YesterdayThursday, July 28, 2005 - 09:35 AM

Sonora, CA -- CDF is reporting a fire yesterday that burned one acre of grass and one acre of woodland shortly after 3:00 in the afternoon near Murphys.
Spokesman Craig Hart says the damage is estimated at about $500. Hart says CDF responded to the blaze with one air attack plane, one helicopter and one bulldozer, as well as five engines and two air tankers. Murphys Fire Protection District also responded with one water tender and one engine. Hart says the cause of the blaze is unknown.
Meanwhile, another fire which was started by smoking materials in a trash can in Sonora.
Hart says there have been several fires started by discarded smoking materials lately and urged smokers to be careful when putting out cigarettes.
One CDF engine responded to that blaze. No injuries were reported in either instance.
