Forest Service To Hold Public Workshops On Forest Mangement Plans

Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 09:10 AM

Sonora, CA -- The U.S. Forest Service has announced that officials with the Stanislaus National Forest will be taking public input to explore and establish different options for the forest's five year fuels reduction and timber management plan.

The public discussions are in response to a recommendation made to forest managers in a recently completed report on the Stanislaus timber management program.

The report suggests the implementation of a Stewardship and Fire-shed Assessment process to communicate with the public about where, when and what type of prescribed treatments will occur.

The meetings are scheduled for August 8th to August 12th, beginning at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Sonora Oaks Hotel at Mono Way and Hess Avenue.
