Undated -- The National Weather Service is warning residents to brace for much warmer conditions.
Forecasters say temperatures across the Mother Lode and the central valley could get near triple digits this afternoon. The weather service says temperatures could be the highest in seven years. Forecasters say temperatures will cool slightly by tomorrow, but will remain in the mid to upper 90s.
The weather service says strenuous activities should not be performed during the heat of the day and people should drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids. Children and pets should never be left in automobiles and extra caution should be exercised while burning.
Tuolumne County residents should be reminded that fireworks are illegal everywhere in the county, and on federal lands in Calaveras County.
