Amador - El Dorado CDF Reminder of Firework LawsWednesday, June 29, 2005 - 01:15 PM
Camino - The Amador-El Dorado Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) would like to remind everyone that ALL FIREWORKS INCLUDING “SAFE AND SANE” FIREWORKS are ILLEGAL in Amador County except within the city limits of Sutter Creek, Jackson and Ione.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), “fireworks cause more fires in the US than all other causes combined”. Fireworks also pose a threat of serious injury especially to juveniles, twenty three percent of those injured are children between 10-14 years of age, 14% of the injured were under the age of 4 and 12 % were between 5-9 years of age. Is it worth the risk? Every year CDF responds to about half a dozen fires started by illegal fireworks. CDF is requesting the assistance of the public in eliminating these fires because every single fire has the potential of becoming a massive wildfire that destroys life, property and valuable resources that are critical to our communities' welfare.
