Modesto, CA -- An overnight rainstorm in the Northern San Joaquin Valley Wednesday night is responsible for several automobile accidents and making driving conditions very hazardous.
California Highway Patrol reported five to six accidents and numerous single vehicle wrecks. Police say the damage was mainly caused by a combination of drivers following too closely, high speeds and a slick road. The weather is being blamed for snarling up traffic during Thursday morning's commute and overwhelming drainage systems.
Forecasters say more rain could fall in the area as a storm lingers off shore, which is expected to hit California Saturday night.
