Relay For Life Saturday April 30th At Sonora Elementary

The Tuolumne Unit of the American Cancer Society is preparing for the Relay For Life, which is the signature event for the Cancer Society and its largest fundraiser.

The event anticipates 50 teams with family, friends, and the community joining to make it the largest crowd ever.

On Saturday April 30th the 24 hour event will take place, in which teams of 12-24 participants take turns running or walking around the track at Sonora Elementary School to raise money.

During this time there will be food, entertainment, activities, and prizes. In the Opening Ceremony our community's cancer survivors are celebrated and honored.

There is also a Luminary Ceremony at dusk when we remember those we have lost to this disease and again honor those who are survivors.

The event will start at 10:00am on Saturday and continue through Sunday morning.

Representatives say it is about being a community that will take up the fight.
