Sheriff's Deputy Has Gun And Badge StolenTuesday, March 29, 2005 - 10:00 AM
A sheriff's deputy lost his gun, badge, wallet and cellular phone when someone stole a fanny pack from the deputy's car Monday morning in Stanislaus County .
The theft occurred at a northwest Modesto preschool, where the deputy had gone to drop off his child according to a Modesto Police Department spokesman. Someone smashed a window and grabbed the fanny pack. The deputy's name was not released. Police are concerned that the thief could use the gun and badge to try to impersonate an officer. This raises concern for the public's safety as well as the safety of the person pretending to be an officer.
