Governor Receives Judges Ruling On Fundraising

Friday, March 25, 2005 - 11:55 AM

Superior Court Judge Shelleyanne Chang has ruled that Fair Political Practices Commission regulations approved last year went further than the law, voter approved Proposition 34, allowed, therefore a tentative court ruling has given Governor Schwarzenegger a green light to continue raising millions of dollars for his proposed ballot initiatives.

A campaign-finance watchdog group complained to the FPPC that the governor was in violation of it's rules which had extended political candidate contribution limits to candidate-controlled ballot measure committees raising funds. The group charged that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was actively directing the activities of the Citizens to Save California Committee, a group raising money for several initiatives the governor supports.
