Dog Handler In Peterson TrialTuesday, August 31, 2004 - 02:15 PM
A hair brush, a pink slipper and sunglasses.
Those were some of the items used by a dog handler as he sought to track the whereabouts of Laci Peterson shortly after her disappearance. Christopher Boyer -- a volunteer for a search and rescue team -- is on the stand at Scott Peterson's murder trial explaining how dogs pick up scent and follow trails as they search for missing people.
Prosecutors say the tracking dogs picked up Laci Peterson's scent at the Berkeley Marina where Scott Peterson claims to have gone fishing alone the day his wife disappeared.
The prosecution is hoping to use the testimony from dog-handlers to show that's where Scott Peterson loaded his wife's body into a boat to dump her in San Francisco Bay.
