State Fair Roller Coaster Injures Riders

Five people were sent to area hospitals with minor injuries this weekend after a roller coaster at the California State Fair malfunctioned. Cal Expo spokeswoman Erica Manuel says two children and three adults complained of neck and back injuries after the coaster's car rolled backward and jerked to a stop. Manuel says the incident happened just as the ride was beginning and the car rolled only a few feet. But, she says that was enough to cause the very minor injuries.
