Sonora law enforcement have captured an escapee this afternoon.
Less than 40 minutes after they first reported that work furlough inmate Michael Dean Jones had walked away from the county garage near Sonora High School -- he was back in custody. The inmate was first reported missing around 12:10 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Dispatch radio transmissions said officers located Jones on foot in the Browns Flat area off Highway 49 about 12:50. CHP dispatchers say the inmate collided with a Sonora Police patrol car during pursuit on Jack Page Road. He was put into handcuffs. Jones suffered head injuries, cuts and scrapes. Sonora Police officers and Tuolumne County Sheriff deputies both helped in the capture.
