Battle Over Vote Heads To CourtroomMonday, July 26, 2004 - 03:00 PM
A bitter ballot fight over how Californians will vote in coming years has spilled into a state courtroom.
Business groups pushing statewide voting reforms asked appeals court justices in Sacramento today to kill a rival measure from the Legislature aiming to keep the status quo. Both measures are on the November ballot. Business interests behind Proposition 62 say lawmakers' competing ballot initiative, Proposition 60, illegally combines two separate topics to woo more voters. Business groups say it's illegal to mix two questions, but legislative attorneys say they've acted properly.
