Gas Prices in FluxSaturday, June 26, 2004 - 10:55 PM
Californians might pay more at the pump after equipment problems at some oil refineries this week.
The California Energy Commission says equipment breakdowns could limit supply and push up prices. According to the Sacramento Bee, problems stalled production at Valero's refinery in Benecia and Shell Oil's refinery in Martinez.
Californians paid an average of $2.28 a gallon for self-serve regular this week.
A representative for Triple-A of Northern California says price hikes resulting from the parts problems could push up prices just in time for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend.
He says prices could remain high for the next six weeks.
