Prescribed Burn Planned For San Andreas

Expect to see smoke and flames rising above Calaveras County tomorrow night.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will be conducting a 140-acre prescribed burn along Highway 12 at the Highway 49 split in San Andreas.

CDF officials say the fire will blacken an entire hillside from the Calaveras River Bridge to near Pool Station Road ....if the right weather nd moisture conditions exist in the area tomorrow. A contingency of firefighters, a helicopter, a bulldozer and law enforcement will surround and manage the burn.

CDF says the project is scheduled to start at 5 o'clock Friday evening and last until midnight.
