CDF Begins Fire Station Staffing

Because of the unseasonably hot and dry conditions throughout the Sierra Foothills region combined with numerous grass and brush fires in the area already, the CDF Tuolumne Calaveras Unit will begin hiring seasonal firefighters starting Monday.

The CDF will also be staffing a number of fire stations in both Tuolumne and Calaveras counties, as well as the Helitack Crew at the Columbia Air Attack Base.

Fire officials say additional fire station openings and firefighter deployment will happen in the coming weeks as burning conditions worsen.
