Bodies Recovered In New Hogan Drownings

Tuesday, April 27, 2004 - 12:25 PM

Two Stockton area residents drowned Sunday in New Hogan Lake. Both bodies have now been recovered.

A Calaveras County Sheriffs Department spokesmen says 23 year-old Amelia Delsie had been swimming with a 2 year-old child near the Whiskey Creek Day Use area Sunday evening when she began to struggle. Authorities say she was able to push the baby to safety.

That's when 23 year-old Adam Dawson dove in and tried to reach the woman but also ran into trouble and drowned. Delsie's body was recovered by divers Monday evening.

A Sheriff's spokesman says cold water temperatures, hovering around 50 degrees at the time, may have played a role in the drownings.
