Amtrak Train Hits Car Near ModestoTuesday, March 23, 2004 - 11:05 AM
One person is dead after an Amtrak train hit a car near Modesto.
A spokesman for Amtrak says the train hit a vehicle in the town of Riverbank, near Modesto around 9:50 this morning. The spokesman say the car went through a railroad crossing just before it was hit.
One-hundred-and-two people were on the train. None of passengers or crew were injured.
The train is now stopped just west of the Modesto station, while authorities investigate the crash.
