Alleged Carjackers Released From Jail, No Charges Filed

No criminal charges are being filed in this week's alleged carjacking in front of the Sonora Wal Mart.

The District Attoney for Tuolumne County, Donald Segerstrom, said there were a number of inconsistencies in the story the victim gave to Sonora Police, although he wouldn't specify what the inconsistencies are.

Alonso Collantes and Jose Villar had been arrested in connection with the case. They're both from Peru, and in the U.S. on legal work visas. They were released from Tuolumne County jail Thursday and the DA is saying the investigation is tending to corroborate the story of the alleged suspects, and not the story of the alleged victim.
